Sunday, October 16, 2:00pm – 10:00pm 1 - 2 volunteers will work with the director in facilitating the dispatch of ECC teams to various points around the city. Volunteers will also be taught how to answer calls in the ECC. The ECC is a first point of contact for the American Red Cross in ensuring our teams are sent to locations where help is needed, be it a fire, building collapse, vacate or a major emergency like the incident in Chelsea. 1 – 2 volunteers will be dispatched to go on calls to respond. They will be accompanied by a trained Red Cross volunteer.

Volunteers report to 520 West 49th Street on the second floor.

At security they just need to inform the guard they are here for response and then take the elevator to 2. They then make a left and a left until they get to the response area and they ask for the Red Cross staff person they have been assigned to.

  • All volunteers should wear comfortable clothing (jeans, tee) and also be weather appropriate.
  • Those responding on DAT/DPM calls and RideAlongs should also wear hard-toe boots (if they have them) or regular boots for safety. They will be given Red Cross vests to wear for the calls.
  • The volunteers for the Cot Cleaning should also wear clothing that can get dirty (jeans, tee, etc.). We will be outdoors so volunteers should dress for the weather.
  • ECC Volunteers and Kit Builders will be indoors and should wear clothing that is comfortable as well.
